Adoption Adjustment Time
A note from your puppy...
Crate Time: Hi fwiend! If you put me in a crate for sleepytime (your choice!), it’ll be my first time sleeping all by myself. I’ll miss my brothers and sisters, and I might cry or howl a bit. It’s not because I’m hurt—I’m just a lil' lonely and figuring things out.
I can hold my potty in the crate, but I might still wake up and ask to go outside every few hours at first. It’s okay to take me out at night, but please don’t talk or play with me. I knows I’m super coot and you’ll wanna snuggle, but that teaches me that night wakies = fun time. And we don’t want that!
By night 3–5, I’ll start to settle down more. By night 7–10, I might snooze for a whole 8 hours! (That's a big puppy deal!)
Can I pretty please have a tiny treat or a few bits of kibble when I go into my crate? A soft blankie over the top can help me feel safe and cozy, like a puppy cave. Pwease be patient—I’ll get the hang of it soon! 🐾
Four Off the Floor! (Important Puppy Rule): Until I’m fully vaccinated, please don’t let me walk around in places where lots of other dogs go—like pet stores, dog parks, vet offices, or sidewalks near other dogs. Even if those dogs look fine, they might be carrying Parvo, which is super dangerous for me. 😢
And while I know you’re excited to show me off, it’s best to wait before I meet other dogs (outside of our family pack). I needs time to get strong and safe first!
Thanks for keeping me safe, healthy, and happy. I wuv you already. 🐾💕
